Tian-Gu Shum

Tian-Gu is a Director Legal at HV. Born abroad and raised in Germany, she grew up between two cultures and took on a habit of looking at things from different perspectives that has shaped her work ever since. She studied law in Hamburg, with a focus on corporate law from early on, and used her Referendariat and university years to gain professional experience in Hong Kong, New York, Bangladesh, and Namibia.

Before HV, she worked at Milbank LLP on corporate, M&A, and private equity transactions. She joined HV in 2019 and now leads on venture capital and M&A matters, with a particular interest in the operational side of the business, including what it actually takes to build a company, not just to finance one. Off the clock: travel and sport.
